Sobre Elizabete Nunes:

I am a chemical engineer with a master’s degree in materials engineering, I have been working in research materials science for fifteen years.

I earn skills on special high-performance polymers for high temperatures and high pressures used on oilfields when I worked at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro supported Petrobras projects. I worked on testing and evaluating polymers used as pressure barrier on flexible risers and composites used to repair pipelines, thermal and mechanical degradation of this material at high pressure and high temperature, oil and biodiesel, those materials come from Solvay and Arkema companies, and there began my contact with abroad scientific researchers of those companies, changing information and discussing experimental results.

Because of this background, I was ridden to work on NOV flexibles, expanding 3 months at Kalumburg and Copenhagen cities, in Denmark.

In June of 2013, I joined GE Global Research in Rio de Janeiro, as Research Engineer at Offshore and Subsea Systems, first, and after a while, I was working with all the different businesses of GE Company, as a researcher engineer that looked for solutions for improvement of GE multiple activities and manufactures, delivering improvements on their materials performances.

Experiência

Lead Engineer – BHGE Baker Hughes, a GE Company             January 2018 to April 2020

Research projects:

  • Processing engineering and equipment testing of a new subsea sulfate removal plant for subsea water pretreatment. Bid with five petrochemicals operations (Shell, Petrobras, Galp, Equinor, and Total) to test in media scale the performance of polymeric filtration of Suez filters. Main tasks: discussion of the processing of the whole pilot plant with the leaders of the bid, demand execution at the plant by the operators, and reporting results.
  • The first phase of Modeling prediction of sour gas permeation from a polymer sheath of BHGE flexible riser; study of thermodynamic equations and balance of mass, using Comsol Multiphases Software. Interface with seniors researchers at GE Global Research at Niskayuna, and discuss boundaries conditions of the permeation of the sour gases through the polymeric layer of the flexible riser.

Research Engineer – GE Global Research Center Rio           June 2013 to December 2017

Research and development of new technologies involving polymeric and composites materials on different business groups of GE Corporation, contributing to a cross-functional team in Brazil and overseas.

Oilfield Equipment Business:

  • Collaborated on research activities on the proof of concept of composite riser project.  Collaboration on the Composite Riser FMECA with Libra (Shell and Petrobras Consortium), lead discussions about set conditions, tests, and results on behalf of GE team to other participants of the bid.
  • Lead a rheological study to improve the manufacturing process of horizontal potting of epoxy on subsea equipment. Concept of tests, demand execution of the tests at the lab, and reporting conclusions to the business.

Power Energy Business:

  • Improvement of the filament winding manufacturing process to ACR Power Reactors: combine a new epoxy viscosity with an experimental fiber tension to result in a better finishing of the reactor, definition of tests, demand at the lab, and reporting results to the business.

Renewables Energy Business:

  • Review of all epoxy materials and coatings of the nacelles wind turbines manufacturing and the proceedings of curing. Reporting results to GE business leaders.

Additive Manufacturing Business:

  • Characterization of a 3D printable polymer to use on GE power equipment, substituting a traditional component within the same mechanical, chemical, and electric proprieties. Contact with Sabic researchers to a collaboration project, leading tasks on behalf of GE to external academic partners and internally to GE business leaders
