Job Summary

Responsible for defining and developing new products, manages cross-organization efforts to ensure approval, then directs their introduction. Plans, develops and implements new products. Products tend to be data- and technology-based (e.g., registration, ecommerce, search, directory, email, advertising products) products also tend to be special features for existing programs (e.g., travel products, entertainment, financial portfolios, up-sell tools, etc.). Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as resource for colleagues with less experience. This role will be responsible for understanding how the adoption of the APIs by app developers and content publishers will result in a superior customer experience on the Global Apps Platform. You will document requirements from internal stakeholders and 3rd parties, to build a backlog of API features to be added to the Global Apps Platform. You will work closely with the cross-functional OTT Apps Platform team consisting of other product managers, partner managers, developer and operation engineers, and business owners to grow the feature set available in the Global Apps Platform API. Determine the priority for developing each API feature and work with engineering teams to ensure timely release.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Analyzes product management activities for several products, or one key product. Serves as a resource to other product managers, assisting them in the resolution of semi-complex problems or may lead them on larger projects.

  • You will become the non-technical subject matter expert for the Global Apps Platform APIs, knowing what each API is capable of and what the benefit of using the API will deliver to apps and customers. 

  • Document the functional requirements for new API requests from stakeholders, and create actionable user stories for the engineering backlog.

  • Evangelize the Global Apps Platform APIs – assist partner managers in engaging app developers & content publishers to facilitate adoption of the Global Apps Platform APIs. 

  • Gathers input to define product concepts. Justifies expenditures for products. Defines and analyzes markets.

  • Evaluates technologies. Develops detailed product features and requirements and develops implementation plans. Participates in cross-functional teams to envision new product features.

  • Coordinates with outside vendors and strategic partners to ensure that product initiatives are well-defined and delivered on time and within budget.

  • Makes product improvement recommendations to meet changing operational, sales and market needs.

  • Coordinates among a wide range of cross-functional internal and external resources to ensure that products get to market per specifications, within budget and on schedule.

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Has engineering/software development experience but is interested in transitioning to a product manager role 

  • Understands product management principals – can make data driven decisions around feature trade-off and minimal viable product.
