VPU Context:
The selected candidate will work in Brasilia, Brazil, supporting efforts towards enhancing national systems and capacity in environmental and social risk management policies and standards.
- This includes ensuring effective integration into project design appraisal implementation of WBG-supported projects of social environment community health safety due diligence defined by ESF Environmental Social Management Framework ESS1–ESS10 guidelines IF Performance Standards Equator Principles etc
- The specialist will lead promote social inclusion agenda design implementation projects Brazil Ensure effective integration client-developed terms reference deliverables social assessments management instruments resettlement plans indigenous peoples plans labor management procedures stakeholder engagement plans public consultation disclosure procedures grievance mechanisms etc
- The senior development specialist should have experience working complex challenging settings hands-on delivery analytical operational products under tight timelines managing risks infrastructure extractives manufacturing agribusiness services sectors including roads highways dams electrical sector large water conveyance systems strong analytical skills ability think strategically analyze synthesize diverse sources draw conclusions sometimes limited data methodologies vulnerable groups demonstrated project management skills community health safety management contractor weak implementation capacity wide range stakeholders agencies government counterparts civil society organizations knowledge WB operations Latin America Caribbean understanding institutional political context Brazil interpersonal communication skills diplomatic approach high-pressure environments integrity trust team member lead multi-cultural environment multiple tasks evolving contexts dynamic fast-paced work environment excellent oral written English Portuguese readiness travel extensively remote rural areas
