    Purpose of the role:

    As part of the Americas Logistics Operations team, the Logistics Operations Manager will be accountable to manage all T ransportation & Warehouse activities in Brazil , ensure timely execution of all operational activities, responsible for the results achieved through the coordination of a team of Logistics Specialists and Associates, Carrier management and overall modal Cost to Serve ownership .

    Essential job functions:

    Team Management:

  • Provide overall leadership to logistics operations team in Brazil, supporting all Lubrizol Business Units. Responsibilities include Domestic transport LTL, TL, Bulk Truck & Rail, International transport, as well as management of warehouses and terminals.
  • Manage a team responsible for the coordination and timely execution of shipments, from pick-up until delivery, according to the established work processes.
  • Manage Logistic Associates responsible for the Freight audit & payment process to ensure accurate invoice verification and timely payments to vendors.
  • Train / retrain qualified personnel to ensure process adherence.
  • Develop talents, provide coaching, and motivate overall team performance.
  • Carrier Management:

  • Measure and own Logistics Performance KPIs (e.g. Safety, On-Time Delivery, Customer Complaints, Quality of Carrier services, Booking Acceptance etc.)
  • Responsible to manage Carriers & Terminals Performance and setting up regular reviews with vendors to review KPIs.
  • Collaborate with vendors and drive continuous improvement efforts to meet customer expectations.
  • Establish qualitative operational escalations levels with Carriers & Terminals to ensure rapid response time.
  • Guarantee that the Carriers & Terminals operation manuals are up-to-date, controlled, revised according to the business needs. Benchmark and apply industry best practices.
  • Ensure Lubrizol logistics operations comply with all relevant company TS&C (Transportation Safety & Compliance) standards and applicable rules & regulations in the different countries.
  • Collaborate with Logistics Procurement on operational requirements, vendor performance etc. to define vendor sourcing strategies.
  • Cost Management:

  • Own the domestic and international logistics freight audit & payment process.
  • Monitor & Analyze the logistics operation cost.
  • Define improvement actions and work with respective parties to reduce cost, such as demurrage and other operational accessorial cost items. Manage key projects as assigned.
  • Manage import and export orders in terms of operations, customs related issues and taxes.
  • Manage the violations, declarations & administrative processes related to Brazilian customs.
  • Requirements and skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree, with at least 10 years of professional experience in Logistics or Supply Chain.
  • Advanced level of English proficiency;
  • A profound understanding of the logistics industry.
  • Knowledge in domestic logistics regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Data mining skills and continuous improvement mindset.
  • A proven effective people leader & team player.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills & professionalism. This position will interface with logistics team members, internal customers and business partners on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and managing complexity.
  • Ability to work across different cultural environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SAP and MS office tools.
