    The Candidate:
    You have experience bringing new products to market, handling all or some of the touchpointsfrom concept through manufacturing. You've either built or supported bringing new products tothe world, handling design, testing, prototyping, engineering, RFQ, and supplier engagement.
    You have experience working with and in manufacturing environments. You're willing to learn,adapt and take initiative but not afraid of taking up challenges.

    You're a detail-oriented individualwho admires good design with respect for the role that it plays in quality products and brands.


    The Job:

    As Design Engineer, you will:
    Act as a dedicated Design Engineer - helping to lead the development work from productdefinition through manufacturing.
    Work closely with NYC and Asia teams to communicate and determine direction & solvedevelopment problems as they arise.

    Communicate progress to partners on the ground in the US and project requirements fordevelopment, manufacturing & operational needs to broader internal and external teams.

    Collaborate with Doris Dev Industrial Design & NY/Asia engineering teams to ensure theengineering designs meet client requirements and design intent.


    The Responsibilities:


    Lead design engineering of a product from inception to manufacturingManage documentation of product assets (3D, 2D, Samples)Provide Engineering Support and Analysis to Industrial Design Stakeholders.

    Build inhouse prototypes or scope external partners to prototype designsTest samples and prototypes to validate designProvide technical feedback and assets to support sourcing & supply chain teams, working with PM's to review quotations from vetted suppliers.

    Handle multiple projects and work independently while establishing cross-functional partners to ensure production meets company objectives


    The Qualifications:4+ years of experience in product development and mechanical engineeringMust have a portfolio with past work(3D, prototypes, etc.)Experience in product categories such as furniture, consumer product, healthcare, houseware goods, appliances, and packaging.

    Highly proficient and deeply familiar with CAD tools (Solidworks or Onshape preferred) and prior experience with a variety of 3D printersAbility to hand prototype with extensive hand tool experience.

    Experience with wide range of materials (plastics, metals, rubbers) and knowledge informing material selection processProactive problem solving, including root cause analysis and DOE creation.

    Interested in consumer product design and manufacturingExperience working in small teams of engineers/designers/project managersAbility to travel to Asia including Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, South Korea, and Taiwan.

    Ability to work in EnglishStrong Communication and Presentation skills - especially convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to convey passion for passion and innovation in presentations.
    Must have developed a product through mass production.

    Working Hours


    Because our work involves coordination with the Asia Team, there are meetings that arescheduled outside of traditional 9-5 working hours.
