    Job Description

    Market Benchmarking and Innovation:

    Conduct ongoing market research to identify best practices, cost-saving opportunities, and innovative logistics solutions. Develop and present market benchmarks for freight rates, shipping routes, and transit times, ensuring competitive advantage. Implement innovative logistics solutions, such as digital tracking systems or alternative shipping routes, to enhance cost-efficiency and service levels.

    Supplier and Shipment Management:

    Order Processing and Follow-up: Place and manage international orders with suppliers, ensuring timely fulfillment and adherence to agreed-upon terms. Shipment Planning: Plan and coordinate air and sea shipments, ensuring proper selection of transport modes (standard containers, break bulk, Ro-Ro) depending on the cargo type.

    Shipment Execution: Monitor the end-to-end shipment process, from loading to final delivery, managing documentation and ensuring compliance with customs regulations and Incoterms. Issue Resolution: Address and resolve any issues with delayed shipments, missing documentation, or discrepancies in cargo, ensuring minimal disruption to the supply chain.

    Cost Reduction and Efficiency:

    Freight Cost Analysis: Analyze freight rates from different carriers and forwarders, selecting the most cost-effective options while maintaining quality service. Shipment Consolidation: Identify opportunities for shipment consolidation to reduce costs and improve delivery efficiency.

    Vendor Negotiations: Negotiate contracts and rates with logistics providers and carriers, seeking the best terms for sea, air, and overland freight. Order Tracking and Supplier Coordination:

    Shipment Tracking: Utilize tracking tools and systems to monitor the status of shipments, ensuring timely delivery and notifying stakeholders of any delays or changes. Supplier Communication: Maintain constant communication with suppliers and freight forwarders to ensure shipment accuracy and timely dispatch.

    Scheduling Deliveries: Coordinate delivery schedules with warehouses and distribution centers to ensure smooth reception of goods upon arrival. Compliance and Documentation:

    Customs Documentation: Prepare and review shipping documents such as bills of lading, certificates of origin, and packing lists, ensuring full compliance with international trade regulations. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all shipments comply with international trade laws, customs requirements, and Incoterms, keeping up to date with any regulatory changes.

    Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and address risks related to shipping routes, political instability, or changes in trade tariffs. Reporting and Performance Monitoring:

    KPI Tracking: Develop and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to shipping costs, delivery times, and supplier performance. Logistics Analysis: Provide in-depth analyses of logistics performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.

    Cost and Process Improvement Proposals: Present detailed proposals for cost reductions and efficiency gains based on data analysis and market research. Standard Activities:

    Daily Operations Management:

    Monitor daily shipment schedules, verifying that all shipments are on track and flagging any deviations. Coordinate with warehouse and distribution teams to align shipping activities with receiving capacity and schedules.

    Documentation Handling:

    Prepare and review shipping and customs documentation for accuracy and compliance. Ensure that documentation, such as packing lists and commercial invoices, is provided to customs brokers and freight forwarders in a timely manner.

    Supplier Relationship Management:

    Maintain and strengthen relationships with global suppliers and logistics providers to ensure reliable service. Provide feedback to suppliers and logistics partners regarding performance and negotiate improvements or amendments to contracts when necessary.

    Cost Control and Budgeting:

    Monitor shipping expenses against budget, identifying variances and providing insights for future budget planning. Assist in the preparation of logistics budgets and forecast shipping volumes to optimize cost efficiency.

    Requirements:

    Education & Certifications:

    Please note minimum and preferred requirements for education. This includes degree, specializations, and certifications. Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business, or related fields. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in international trade, logistics, and shipping.

    Organization and Time Management:

    Highly organized and capable of managing multiple international shipments simultaneously while adhering to tight deadlines. Effective in prioritizing tasks, ensuring that critical shipments receive immediate attention and tracking all ongoing activities.

    Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

    Ability to analyze shipment data and logistical challenges, using insights to streamline processes and enhance cost-efficiency. Proactively solve issues such as shipment delays, customs holds, or damaged goods, minimizing disruption to the supply chain.

    Communication and Negotiation:

    Strong communication skills to manage relationships with suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal teams across various regions. Skilled negotiator capable of securing favorable rates and terms with logistics providers while maintaining collaborative partnerships.

    Adaptability and Continuous Improvement:

    Demonstrates adaptability in responding to changes in shipping routes, customs regulations, or international trade policies. Continuously seeks out new tools and methods to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of trade operations.

    Technology and Tool Integration:

    Proficiency in logistics management software (such as SAP, Oracle, or other ERPs) and shipping platforms to manage day-to-day operations. Comfortable with digital tools for shipment tracking, supplier management, and reporting, ensuring real-time visibility and control over international trade processes.
