    This is the new underwriting job type we are introducing to our operating model across the Business Unit

    Why consider this new role? You will be the part of a high-performing, client-facing and decision taking team that is entirely responsible for providing high quality underwriting, portfolio, and client management, you will deliver "holistic underwriting", which means balancing different aspects of the risk to build and maintain a profitable book of business.

    About the Role

    Your focus will be on supporting the build of profitable portfolios of clients and contracts that outperform the market benchmark.

    A successful Client Underwriter will combine origination, client management and underwriting skills. This role requires openness and willingness to continuously learn and grow the core Client Underwriting Skills over time.

    Underwriting and client management support, as well as market insights and preliminary portfolio steering skills:

    • Support the development and fostering of client relations.
    • Build and maintain a strong external network.
    • Find opportunities in your client portfolio to grow the Core business and develop Transactions and Solutions in collaboration with the relevant specialists within the principles of "right service, right client."
    • Understand the products offered by our competitors. Anticipate and analyze future industry/economic/legal/market trends.

    Underwriting:

    • Work with other Client Underwriters on the performance of end-to-end underwriting analysis for core business including risk selection, simple costing, contracts review and structuring.
    • Manage pre- and post-bind activities such as: Build of underwriting files and pre-underwriting assessment, client and contract triage, special acceptances, quality inspection, etc.

    Knowledge building & applying technology:

    • Participate in knowledge exchange across regions.
    • Be ready to go through a series of trainings to gain UW expertise, e.g., simplified tools for costing and pricing.

    About the Team

    You will join a team of two Client Underwriters with diverse experiences, mentalities, and skills, who like working together to make the most out of the opportunities that the market brings. You will report to the Market Head of Brazil and Southern Cone.

    About you

    Essentials

    • Minimum of 5 years of insurance/reinsurance market experience
    • Degree in Humanities or STEM such as Actuarial, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or Business Administration is a plus
    • Deep understanding of core principles of reinsurance, its applications and understand reinsurance contract structures
    • Willingness to learn and obtain Client Underwriting Authority
    • Proficiency in Portuguese, English and Spanish
    • Ability to travel 5-10% within your allocated region

    Technical and soft skills

    • Actuarial Background preferred
    • Excellent communication skills to build and develop relationships with clients and brokers, which will enable you to grow on client management and negotiation skills
    • Willingness to be continuously challenged and gain job experience on the fly (in-the-job learning)
    • Good judgment and decision-making skills that will enable you to create business acumen, strategic mindset, and deep product knowledge
