Key Responsibilities

Phi is seeking an experienced an Engineering Manager / Technology Lead to establish and run a local delivery team in São Paulo working on a modern, cloud-native, cross-asset Pricing & Risk platform for a global financial-services client.

This role owns local delivery, team leadership, governance, and quality, allowing the global technical lead to focus on architecture and strategy. The successful candidate will be hands-on, delivery-oriented, and business-aware, with a strong Python-led engineering mindset and experience building and operating distributed systems in regulated environments.

This role gives you the opportunity to:

• Report directly to the Global Engineering & Technology Lead based in London

• Lead the São Paulo delivery team

• Own end-to-end delivery for the São Paulo team across development, testing, release, and BAU support

• Translate high-level architectural direction into practical, incremental delivery plans

• Ensure delivery against agreed milestones, quality standards, and non-functional requirements

• Act as the local point of accountability for delivery outcomes

• Own engineering governance, including:

• Code quality and review practices

• Testing strategy and coverage

• CI/CD and release discipline

• Documentation and operational readiness

• Ensure solutions meet security, resilience, and auditability expectations typical of Pricing & Risk systems

• Proactively identify and mitigate delivery and operational risks

• Remain technically engaged, contributing where appropriate (design reviews, complex debugging, critical path work)

• Act as a trusted local interface to client technology and business stakeholders

The Ideal candidate

Essential

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Technology Lead, or similar role

• Strong hands-on engineering background, ideally with Python as a primary language

• Experience leading small to mid-sized development teams in a delivery-focused environment

• Demonstrated ownership of delivery, quality, and governance, not just design

• Experience building or operating cloud-native platforms

• Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with business and technical stakeholders

• Fluent English (spoken and written)

Highly Desirable

• Experience in capital markets, pricing, risk, trading, or market data systems

• Prior experience working with distributed or international teams

• Background in regulated or high-reliability environment

• Exposure to cross-asset systems or analytics platforms
