    Overview

    Hexagon Autonomy & Positioning is looking for a tech-savvy and personable Field Applications Engineer to join a global engineering and manufacturing leader in tech that does cool stuff that matters. In this exciting hands-on position, you will help us drive our business forward by providing 2nd tier support to our customers. You will utilize your GNSS+INS expertise to ensure our customers' success. Additionally, you will be part of a growing Global Core Customer Support team. This position will have a strong focus on supporting NovAtel, Veripos and AutonomouStuff customers in South America. The team collaborates closely with Customers, Sales, Specialists, Engineering and Account Managers.

    The Location: Hexagon is a global company with locations around the world. This position is based in Rio das Ostras, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. We will consider remote work in Campos dos Goytacazes and Niterói for the right candidate.

    Responsibilities

    As our Field Applications Engineer, you will:

  • Provide 2nd tier product and application support on Hexagon A&P Hardware, Software, and related GNSS & INS topics to internal and external customers
  • Provide technical support for both pre-sales opportunities and post-sales issues
  • Data analysis for support cases when applicable
  • Troubleshooting, investigation and issue replication
  • Including phone and email support
  • Conduct full system installations on-board vessels offshore/near port in accordance with project specific procedures
  • Assist with and implement all processes and methods to ensure delivery of the best worldwide 24-hour customer support and training in the marketplace
  • Assist the 24/7 support team by providing out of hours cover on a rotational basis
  • Perform on-going testing, evaluation, assessment and reporting of performance of all current and new products, services and related upgrades prior to project deployment, delivery or installation
  • Carry out and conduct Site Acceptance Testing of all new products and services as well as all revisions of existing Product and Services as per customer requests
  • Ensure that all documents used during or resulting from any projects are prepared in accordance with company quality procedures and issued to the proper authority for issue and archiving
  • Ensure that the final product/service is compliant to client's specification, meeting all project requirements as stated in the operational procedures
  • Prepare the following:
  • Operational Technical Reports as required
  • Technical Installation Drawings
  • Safety documentation such as Task Risk Assessments, Toolbox talks and Working at Height checklists
  • Provide customer training, demonstrations, technical assistance, and technical sales support
  • Escalate and collaborate with other departments regarding technical matters
  • Perform field trial testing and coordination when called upon by engineering or other support teams
  • Interface with and provide support for Engineering teams
  • Review technical documentation materials and manuals
  • Generate application notes for frequently asked questions and knowledge base
  • Qualifications

    Must-Have:

  • Degree in marine, telecommunications, electronics, or electrical engineering, or related field, with 2+ years of related industry experience
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to get on with others
  • English and Portuguese fluency with excellent verbal and written skills
  • Able and willing to travel internationally
  • Certification to drive in Brazil
  • Comfortable working at heights and within closed environments

  • Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience working directly with customers, preferably in the delivery of support or services
  • Experience in GNSS and INS systems installation and troubleshooting
  • Experience working on offshore vessels
  • Offshore Oil & Gas Certifications, including:
  • NR-35 - For working at heights
  • NR-34 - For work in naval environments
  • NR-10 - Work with energized equipment
