    Microsoft Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) plays a pivotal role in powering the global cloud ecosystem. Responsible for managing over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services worldwide, including aspects like infrastructure, security, compliance, operations, and manageability. Our primary focus is on sustainable growth, operational efficiency, and providing a reliable experience to customers and partners around the globe. We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to contribute to building the network that supports the world's largest online services.

    The role of the Data Center Delivery (DCD) Construction Director demands excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, and organizational skills. It requires a strong background in construction, engineering, controls, and operational requirements, with a key emphasis on project and construction management, experience in the data center lease market, client representation, and project-level services. The DCD Construction Director oversees the operational delivery of data center projects within their portfolio, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, cost, schedule, and risk management standards. They are instrumental in managing project teams, aligning business processes, General Contractor (GC), and vendor management strategies, and fostering cross-group collaboration efforts.

    The DCD Construction Director will serve as the primary advocate for ensuring the safe delivery of projects while upholding quality standards. Collaboration with various internal groups is essential, including Microsoft Security, Microsoft IT, Legal, Project Engineering, and others, to uphold corporate vision and project goals. Coordinating and evaluating contractor/vendor performance, managing project expenditures, and engaging with MS partners are among the additional responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Project Management, Contract Management, Construction Management, or a related field and a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
    • Degrees and/or professional licenses in Engineering, Construction Management, Contract Management, Project Management, Leadership.
    • Extensive experience (10-15 years) in leading large-scale construction projects in sectors like Data Centers, semiconductors, Oil-gas, Bio-Pharmaceutical, or similar industries.
    • Proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese and English.

    Additional or Preferred Qualifications

    • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams independently for predictable project management in Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule, and Risk Management.
    • Robust Verbal and Written Communication Skills to provide clear direction and resolve issues efficiently.
    • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills to interpret complex data and identify trends.
    • Detail-oriented approach with meticulous attention to specification compliance and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
    • Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts effectively, promote open communication, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Adaptability to handle changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Commitment to maintaining project quality standards and specifications with a strong quality-oriented mindset.

    Other Requirements

    Candidates must meet specific security screening requirements mandated by Microsoft, customers, and/or government regulations. These include specialized security screenings like the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

    Responsibilities

    Accountability:

    • Responsible for Leadership of Safety, Quality, and predictable delivery to meet business requirements.
    • Oversee project teams, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
    • Perform daily site walks, monitoring project progress and contractor accountability.
    • Manage approved project budgets and collaborate with functions and stakeholders for project milestones.

    Business Processes:

    • Lead Safety, Quality, and predictable delivery across campus projects.
    • Collaborate with partners in selecting vendors, managing vendor performance, and driving global deployment of solutions.
    • Facilitate decision-making, manage change, and apply negotiation skills to meet project delivery expectations.

    Communication:

    • Review cost and KPI metrics, provide single-point contact for project development, and coordinate vendor activities.
    • Attend project meetings, report project progress, and provide weekly status updates.

    Vendor Management and contract compliance:

    • Oversee vendor performance, prepare project tools, review vendor scope of work, and manage compliance with audit results.
    • Validate vendor payment processes and ensure contract compliance.
