Brazilian Amazon...!!

Brazilian Amazon...!!

Nowhere in the world are cut down as many trees as in the Amazon. A survey of the non-governmental organization WWF, based on UN data shows that the average deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon is the world's largest, with 30% more intense than in Indonesia, the runner-up in the ranking of environmental devastation.

The elimination of Amazon forest has grown exponentially during the decades of 70 and 80 and continues at alarming rates. The change in land use has been shown to affect regional hydrology, the global carbon cycle, evaporation rates, loss of biodiversity, the probability of fire and a possible reduction in regional rainfall.
A major problem is the illegal and predatory deforestation...Timber Companies are installed in the area only to cut and sell trunks of noble trees.

There are also farmers who cause fires in the forest to expand cultivation areas (mainly soybean).
These problems have concerned scientists and environmentalists the world, for a long time...It's a cause of the imbalance in the ecosystem of the region, endangering all the forest.
Another problem is biopiracy in the Amazon rainforest. Foreign scientists enter the forest without permission from Brazilian authorities to obtain samples of plants or animal species.

They take these to their countries, research and develop substances, registering patent and then profiting from it, ... the big problem is that Brazil would have to pay in the future to use substances whose raw materials originate from our territory.
But biopiracy is not only the smuggling of goods and flora fauna of the Amazon, but also the use and mastery of knowledge offered by existing populations in the Amazon rainforest.
Indigenous knowledge and products are being appropriated by multinationals who want to make gains with these people...It's lamentable this Brazilian reality..!!

Look the following are the Brazilian species of plants that have been patented by international companies:
---Acai, registered in 2003 in Japan and canceled by the pressure of NGOs.
---The Andiroba patented by companies in Japan, France and also in the European Union.
---The Cupuaçu registered in Japan by the company Asahi Foods and Body Shop, English, among other products.
It's very lamentable to see these depredations in our Amazon, the lung of the world ... until when ???
