Deliverables:


  • Support the strengthening of BNDES's climate ex ante and ex post impact accounting, updating the
    bank's financed and avoided emissions inventory.
  • Develop a methodology capable of integrating exante climate indicators (temperature score) with other
    ESG indicators and testing of a tool with a selection of project submissions.
  • Provide support for capacity building to ensure sustained uptake by the beneficiary
  • Offer feedback for the development of
    climate risk management tools to conduct a climate risk analysis and establishing criteria to integrate them with the Bank's climate management.
  • Provide feedback to the assessment of currently existing financed emissions methodologies for different asset classes, comparing applicable approaches for
    public administration operations.
  • Provide feedback on the expansion of exante and expost assessments of the Bank's project lifecycle and yearly
    avoided emissions.
  • Provide feedback on
    methods for
    measuring the alignment of financed and avoided emissions with Paris Agreement
    goals, incorporating scenario and taxonomy analysis.

Timeline**This consultancy contract is effective from May to December 2024, with an expected workload of 20 hours per week


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Economics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of
    climate change science, carbon accounting principles, and
    sustainability frameworks (e.g. SDG)
  • Proven experience in analyzing
    carbon emissions, with familiarity on both portfolio emissions estimates and UN/CDM/JI/Voluntary markets carbon abatement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in
    quantitative analysis techniques and statistical software (e.g., Excel, R, Python).
  • Familiarity with
    multicriteria
    decision analysis methodologies and tools.
  • Detailoriented with strong problemsolving and criticalthinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with limited input.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable insights.
  • Passionate about sustainability and making a positive impact on the environment and society.
