Summary of Duties:


Area of Selection:


Please note that the mission will not reimburse relocation costs under any circumstance and that the mission does not sponsor work authorizations directly or indirectly.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Language will be assessed further during the process.

Education:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the position;
OR

  • An acceptable combination of education, training and work experience in a field related to the position, including but not limited to international relations, political science, law, business, communications or public policy.

Language:


  • An advanced proficiency level in English (reading, writing, comprehension and speaking).
  • An advanced proficiency level in Portuguese (reading, writing, comprehension and speaking).

Experience:


  • A minimum of two (2) years' recent* experience working in legislature or government or in an advocacy/policy/economic/ communications oriented sector.
  • Recent experience using social media tools professionally for promotion and/or to generate new opportunities.
  • Recent experience conceptualizing, designing and producing engaging infographics, videos, photographs, invitations, and other promotional material used in advocacy campaigns.
  • Recent experience in project implementation (including planning, execution, tracking/reporting results and budget management)
  • Proven track record in establishing and nurturing beneficial relationships with clients, public and private sector representatives and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Obtaining, preparing, and conducting meetings with key public and private sector officials;
  • Providing research and analysis on socioeconomic and other related policy issues.

RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies.

Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.


Knowledge:


Knowledge of the project management cycle, social media trends advocacy best practices, particularly on priority issues for in Brazil, as well as on broader Canadian cultural and diplomatic priorities.

Asset Qualifications:


  • Master's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Finance, International Relations or a discipline related to the job requirements;
  • Advanced proficiency levelin French (reading, writing, comprehension and speaking).

Organizational Needs:


Operational Requirements:


The incumbent must be:

  • Willing to work 37.5 hours per week in accordance with Locally Engaged Staff (LES) regulations;
  • Willing to work paid or compensated overtime during evenings and weekends, as required;
  • Willing to work on certain Brazilian designated holidays, as the Embassy of Canada observes 13 designated holidays per year, a combination of some Canadian and Brazilian holidays;
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as required, and potentially on short notice;
  • Willing to be present in the workplace five days per week (allowing for external outcalls, conference attendance, work travel, etc.).

Conditions of Employment:


Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.

Valid work authorization:Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.

Security screening:Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
