The Business Development Manager individually drives market position and achievement of business outcomes through the Demand and Account Management/Commercial Operations Core Process.

This position is the core sales position within the company responsible for new business/clients as well as managing/leveraging existing accounts.

The Business Development Manager drives results through individual and collective team sales efforts.

The position is responsible for leveraging collaboration with internal teams such as marketing, engineering/survey, and product development and technology groups in order to drive service and business outcomes.

The Business Development Manager also contributes to strategic initiatives and planning through an extensive knowledge of market conditions within their assigned specific location or group of locations, country or group of countries, market sector, and/or product(s).


Job Duties/Roles

  • Develop, communicate, implement, and maintain plans for performing assigned business development activities (e.g., marketing material development, conference exhibits, etc.), providing appropriate coverage to all business lines.
  • Lead, execute and drive regional sales strategies in the assigned area(s) of responsibility, meeting or exceeding sales and revenue targets.
  • Lead business development and sales activities to identify, profile, engage, convert, and close new opportunities across target vertical markets
  • Develop capture strategies for all opportunities in assigned region, including managing both the outcome and process of successful sales
  • Coordinate and lead the internal resources, including marketing, inside sales, and operations to the successful identification, qualification, development, proposal and close of sales opportunities
  • Cultivate deep relationships at both the executive and operational levels and be the primary point of contact for customers during the business development and sales processes
  • Develop key industry relationships and actively participate in key industry associations and events
  • Establish, maintain and grow a healthy sales funnel, and meet (and exceed) key performance indicators, including number of sales, average size of sale, timeinfunnel, and win ratio.
  • Develop and maintain disciplined and accurate reporting, including CRM, forecasting, and event summaries
  • Own and guide the ABS Group Risk and Reliability sales strategy in region and connect that strategy at a global level
  • Participate in regular Business Development Team meetings to provide updates on progress, communicate upcoming activities/events, and coordinate activities with other members of the Business Development Team.
  • Provide strategic insight into future business initiatives, market drivers, and competitor activities for inclusion in local and corporate business plans.
  • Identify business development program weaknesses to the Director of Business Development and propose appropriate/innovative solutions.
  • Travel throughout region to drive sales, cultivate relationships and develop relationships (up to 50% travel)

What You Will Need:

Qualification & Experience

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling Risk and Reliability consulting services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Demonstrated acumen for sales, business development, and account management with experience in meeting and/or exceeding sales targets preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing strategic customer relationships.
  • Strong leadership presence and the ability to quickly establish and build credibility and relationships, externally as well as internally to ABS
  • Excellent business judgment, including the ability to assess the reasonableness and likelihood of success of various business scenarios
  • Demonstrated technical acumen related to the product or area of responsibility
  • A selfstarter with a demonstrated desire achieve goals and as well as a collaborative personality who effectively works with teams and individuals to achieve organizational business outcomes
  • Strong commitment to ethical business practices, in full accordance with relevant corporate policies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System.

Minimum years of Experience
5-10 years of related experience


Language Skills

  • English at an advanced level and fluently (required)
  • Spanish speaking a plus, but not require
