Job Summary:

Responsibility for the construction of specific renewable energy projects within the Brazil portfolio and the wider LATAM area. Ensuring that the projects are delivered, safely, on time, to budget and to the required quality. The role will also provide support to the development stage of the projects in undertaking technical and financial assessments.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop, present and gain approval for the construction strategy of each project, including the required level of internal and external resources to assist with the delivery of the project(s).
  • Propose and agree the Levels of Authority (LoA) with the SVP Construction and Renewables CEO for each project.
  • Ensure that the required resources and procedures are in place to mitigate or minimize the risks to: Health and Safety, Environmental impacts and Quality standards and control.
  • Work with the Procurement Manager and Legal Team to tender, negotiate and conclude OEM equipment supply, EPC/multicontract, consultancy and associated agreements.
  • Ensure that each project has an approved Project Execution Plan (PEP), which is kept updated throughout the project.
  • Ensure each project has a construction schedule in line with development timeframes and equipment availability.
  • Oversee the progress and compliance of the construction activities and ensure all necessary interfaces with internal and external stakeholders are being addressed.
  • Ensure projects are built according to relevant legislation, permits and agreements.
  • Where required act as the Project Director for the construction stage of the project and take an active role on any Steering Committee.
  • Carry out visits to projects to assess the sites and ensure compliance.
  • Work with the Finance Team to ensure that project finance is available at the required time for the project(s). Work with the Operations Team during the construction period to ensure projects are built to enable operations to the approved standards and methods and ensure a successful handover.
  • Provide regular progress reports to Yinson Management and internal stakeholders.
  • During the development stage assist with the technical/engineering/financial evaluation of projects, assessing the difficulties of constructing the projects and the risks involved and
  • Manage contracted in personnel and consultancies required during the construction phase.
  • Assist within the development phase of projects to provide Capex estimations, execution schedules and construction risk advice.
  • Other tasks as allocated by the line manager or senior management team.
Other responsibilities/features of the role

  • Keep up to date with Yinson policies and ensure construction activities comply.
  • Create and implement processes, procedures and tools for construction.
  • Nurture relationships with development partners, consultants, suppliers and contractors.
  • Keep up to date with market trends and legislation changes that could affect future contracts.
  • Identify and research potential new suppliers.
  • Research new products and services to meet company's goals.
  • Manage the settling of contract disputes and warranty claims, during the construction phase.
  • Travel globally to various suppliers and project locations as and when required.
  • When required, during the preconstruction and construction phase, carry out work at the project site, or within the project country to ensure project progress, interface management and all aspects of project control meet the company's requirements.
