Introduction
As an IBM Application Architect, you directly help clients transform their business and solve complex problems. You will define the scope and vision for projects that deliver customized solutions using your knowledge of IBM platforms. You are a technical leader, serving as a liaison among business partners, technical resources, and project stakeholders.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you'll work in our IBM Client Innovation Center (CIC), where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world.

These centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.

The Platform Engineer will work with a team of other Software Developers, Cybersecurity Engineers, and Systems Engineers to design, implement, and deploy software scripts and code that meets the team's requirements, scales easily, save cost, removes the limitations of traditional approaches and solutions, and supports deployment in highly available environments.
Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions.
Normally receives little instruction on daily work and general instructions on newly introduced assignments.

Now, here is a little more about our Platform Engineer position:

The Platform Engineer's role is to design, validate and deploy technical, Infrastructure as Code (IaS), and scripting solutions to maintain, enhance, and evolve the infrastructure operations, security, and compliance.
The priority of the software and designs is to maximize reliability, performance, and efficiency while limiting costs and time to market.
Responsibilities may include the evaluation and translation of requirements into solutions and software, evaluating design benefits and tradeoffs, validating design/software compliance, and supporting the deployment of the software to ensure the requirements were met.
This role expects engineers to be handson and learn about the security and compliance platforms that the team is using ( such as Varonis, Tripwire, Imperva, etc.) and be able to support and maintain the infrastructure and assist other system administrators with daytoday tasks and incidents if needed.
Through a better understanding of the security tools and their support and service workflows, assist the team with automation and kaizen goals.

Essential Functions

Technical System Expertise:

Understands system protocols, how systems operate, and data flows. Aware of current technology benefits. Expected to independently develop a full software stack.
Understands the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete software and automation work.
An Independent study of current technology is expected.
Interact with system engineers to define system requirements and/or necessary requirements for automation.

Technical Engineering Software Services:

Drives engineering projects by developing software solutions; develops new functionality based on requirements; conducts tests and inspections; prepares code for production; and identifies and fixes issues quickly.

Innovation:

Technical Writing:

Maintains knowledge of existing technology documents. Writes basic documentation on how software and technology work. Creates clear documentation for new code and systems used. Documenting systems designs, presentations, and business requirements for consumption and consideration at the manager level.

Technical Leadership:

Collaborates with technical teams and utilizes system expertise to deliver technical solutions. Continuously learns and teaches others existing and new technologies. Contributes to the development of others through mentoring or inhouse workshops and learning sessions.

Technology Strategy:

Contributes to new and existing technology options that support business goals.
