Our Clinical Research team, who powers our PPD clinical research portfolio, are part of our leading global contract research organization (CRO).


Summarized Purpose:

  • Under general direction, ensures the efficient utilization and forecasting of labor needs of clinical resources in each assigned geographical area through independent evaluation and analysis. This position has an impact on the performance and profitability of project teams from a quality, operational and financial aspect across all therapeutic areas. Serves as the primary liaison for technical and systems planning, troubleshooting, process improvement and operational analytics.
  • Essential Functions:
  • Acts as a central point of contact across medical communications operations to identify and track personnel capacity and availability on a real-time basis.
  • Acts as primary liaison with Talent Acquisition to expedite recruiting efforts, including prioritization of open positions.
  • Works closely with operational management to track and identify current and future personnel resource needs and assignments. Monitors regional attrition.
  • Evaluates personnel resource requests from operations management to ensure resourcing needs are met. Identifies staff for assignments based on client requirements, employee background, therapeutic area requirements, geographical area, availability, etc.
  • Collaborates with senior operational leadership, Business Development, and Bids & Proposals team on forecasting future personnel needs, including assignment for attendance at bid defense meetings and maintenance of unassigned (bench) staff.
  • Performs continuous risk analysis. Tracks and provides routine and ad hoc trending assessments. Identifies potential risk to operational needs and escalates to senior leadership.
  • Undertakes special projects with a goal of ongoing improvement and streamlining the resourcing function.
  • Utilizes available tools to support optimized staff utilization and utilization reports for senior management.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years') or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.
  • 1+ year of leadership responsibility
  • Previous workforce management experience preferred

  • Knowledge of resourcing and forecasting methods and applicable tools for tracking and forecasting needs.
  • Thorough understanding of expectations and resourcing needs in order to effectively influence operational decisions and promote business goals
  • Effective negotiation, problem solving, critical thinking and facilitation skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytical ability
  • Ability to proactively gather, interpret and evaluate information from a variety of resources to make decisions and recommendations
  • Understanding of expectations and resourcing needed to effectively staff project teams to promote business goals and future authorizations
  • Knowledge of relational databases and ability to generate reports
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office including Outlook and Excel
  • Proven ability to multitask in order of priority in a deadline driven environment with optimal efficiency and accuracy
  • Strong mentoring and training skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
