Microsoft Research & Incubations conducts world-class research and is developing the next generation of technology that will change the lives of billions of people, enabling every person and organization on the planet to achieve more.

The Special Projects team within Microsoft Research & Incubations is searching for a full-stack software engineer who is eager to tackle unique challenges around knowledge extraction, representation, and LLMs.

In this role, you'll work at the intersection of machine learning and engineering to bring our research to bear on unique problem domains and impactful partnerships.

We are looking for a versatile software engineer with a passion for unlocking the hidden potential in data.

In this role you will work closely with researchers, data scientists, and other engineers to build full-stack systems that showcase problem solutions.

Areas of development could include:

Pipeline and service development in Python
Data visualization with Vega and D
Resource deployment on Azure

Responsibilities:

Collaborate to develop and test out new ideas within the research group and with product or other partners
Contribute to the team's codebases (internal and opensource) with quality, wellthought out code
Prepare technical papers and presentations

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience.
Experience with one or more of: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, Java, Rust
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
Experience with fullstack development
Fluent in written and spoken English

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
