The position


Marketing, Midstream & Processing (MMP) drives the safe and efficient development of Equinor's oil and gas value chain, ensuring maximum value for all marketed products.

As the asset owner of refineries, terminals, processing plants, and pipelines, MMP is also responsible for oil and gas commodity marketing and trading.

Our focus extends to transportation, processing, manufacturing, as well as power and emissions trading.

New Value Chains (NVC) is the business unit within MMP that is responsible for developing and executing on step-out strategies, and proactively identifying and maturing new mid
- and downstream business opportunities with internal and external stakeholders.

When joining our team in Marketing & Supply, New Value Chains, typical assignments are:

  • External analysis: energy markets, macroeconomics, geopolitics, competitors, industry, policy and regulations, crude oil evaluation.
  • Trading: commodity and algorithmic trading, chartering, risk management and business development in energy markets.
  • Energy logistics: commercial operations and contract management, value chain improvements and digitalization.
  • Asset and commodity optimization: asset management, production
- and portfolio optimization.

  • Project roles in Nature Based Solutions such as originating carbon credits for our portfolio.
  • Economic analysis: valuation of our investment opportunities in Brazil.


In Brazil, this unit has the responsibility to develop value chains to support Equinor's robust portfolio of upstream projects, such as BM-C-33, Bacalhau, and Roncador.

This includes originating gas and NGLs sales transactions, negotiating access to infrastructure, and delivering major MMP projects ready for operation to relevant business areas.


You will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced leaders and are expected to be a key contributor to achieving the unit's ambition of developing a Brazil market position to capture value and secure flow assurance of our upstream portfolio.

NVC Brazil works in fast changing, regulated and illiquid markets and continuously needs to adapt. The role therefore requires an agile, creative mind and strong work ethic to keep pace with the market developments.

Typical tasks when working in Marketing & Supply: New Value Chains Brazil will be:

  • Monitoring commercial and regulatory developments in Brazilian gas and power markets closely, including market and price intelligence.
  • Developing competitor analysis of relevant players and stakeholders.
  • Supporting negotiations for natural gas transmission capacity contracts, processing agreements, natural gas sales agreements, participation in power auctions.
  • Keeping traders, originators, and management informed of underlying fundamentals that affect this market and Equinor's overall portfolio in Brazil.
  • Participate actively in the shaping of liberalization initiatives for the Brazilian gas market.
  • Support upstream projects with gas value chain solutions.
  • Develop business cases for a stepout value chain positioning.
  • Originate commercial opportunities and participate in meetings with clients.
  • Develop market strategies aiming to maximize value for Equinor assets.
  • Develop and maintain intelligence products, such as dashboards, to support NVC decision making process.

  • Bachelor'sMaster's degree or PhD with good academic record within Production engineering, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Energy Management, Data Science, Data Management, International Business.
  • Completed degree by the year of starting
  • No more than two years of relevant fulltime work experience.
  • Formal experience is not a requirement.
  • Advanced in English.
