Position Objectives and Summary

Work in concert with the LatAm Chief Risk Officer to:
Legal Entity and Risk Management with focus on Brazil
Identify, analyze, monitor risks within the region, including regulatory and emerging risks, and provide a holistic overview of the risk situation for the business.
Provide also regional management, committees, and relevant legal entity functions with full transparency of risks of the business; do so via regular dialogue and risk reporting, and especially in Brazil
Ensure adherence to Business Unit and relevant Groupwide policies and guidelines.
Maintain key relationships with the business as a means of gathering key risk concerns, deliver appropriate risk messages and advice; do so through periodic, structured meetings.
Liaison with key personnel from the Coordinated Audit Function (CAF), compliance and GIA to ensure a coordinated risk assurance function.
Inform the Regional CRO and CRO Reinsurance on material risk issues within the region such that Reinsurance management or Group management are appropriately informed, especially focused on Brazil
Ensure that LatAm Risk Management actions are in accordance with Swiss Re policies and guidelines and appropriately mitigate risks, with a special focus on Brazil
Support the Americas CRO, and Americas Risk Management leadership team by completing ad hoc requests, where appropriate; and
Enhance the risk culture within the LatAm region

Key stakeholders include:

Regional Head and management team
Local Brazilian Management Team
Regional teams/management representing Asset Management, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Operations and GIA
Regional and Business Unit Risk functions and teams

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS (education, linguistic ability, professional experience)

Strong know how of Brazilian regulation is a must.
University degree: advance degree preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry
Experience in an underwriting, risk, audit, or compliance function preferred
International business experience preferred
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Fluency in English and Portuguese is required; Fluency in Spanish is preferred
Strong analytical, organizational, and presentation skills
Skilled at influencing and negotiation
Ability to work across multiple functions and cultures in/with diverse teams
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
