General Summary:


The Brazil & Latin America Business Partner will serve as the primary Compliance professional supporting the Vertex Brazilian affiliate, which is headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil, as well as distributor markets across Central and Latin America.

The Business Partner will be the primary point of contact for strategic and tactical Compliance guidance for all countries across the region.

They will serve on the country leadership team for Brazil and support teams across Latin America distributor and global expansion markets.

as well as regional, International, and Global OBIE projects and initiatives.


The Brazil & Latin America Business Partner will report to the Senior OBIE Business Partner for International, with dotted lines to the regional OBIE Business Partners for Southern Europe & Brazil and the Distributor Markets and works closely with other Compliance Business Partners to ensure consistent support across International.

The role also supports the Global OBIE team in further enhancing and implementing our Compliance program and will provide daily support to our business colleagues to ensure effective implementation and understanding.


The Brazil & Latin America Business Partner must have deep knowledge of pharmaceutical industry regulations, applicable local codes, and anti-bribery/anti-corruption laws across South and Central America and extensive experience working for biotechnology/pharmaceutical companies on these issues.

Additionally, the Brazil & Latin America Business Partner will work collaboratively and strategically with colleagues in OBIE, Legal, and the business to drive a culture of ethics and integrity across Vertex's global organization.

This is a Hybrid position based in Sao Paulo.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, and continuously improves global auditing and monitoring plan.
  • Designs and implements enhancements to anticorruption and antibriberyfocused auditing and monitoring.
  • Support annual risk assessments.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with OBIE Business Partners, Internal Audit, Legal, as well as colleagues in other functional areas across the global organization.
  • Participates in third party risk management initiatives with a particular focus on corruption/bribery and data privacy risk.
  • Maintains high level of knowledge of current and emerging laws and regulations and recent enforcement actions and inform and educate business units with tailored communications.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Serve on Brazil Country Leadership Team and as the point of contact for business colleagues across Latin America distributor markets seeking strategic and tactical guidance on matters of Compliance, integrity, and ethics.
  • Serve as a trusted thought leader and advisor for Brazil & Latin America teams and colleagues on matters of Compliance, integrity, and ethics.
  • Provide Compliance oversight, guidance, and direction for business colleagues and identify areas where Compliance input and attention is required.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve risk mitigation strategies and tactics across Brazil & Latin America and design data analytics and dashboards in coordination with the Global Assurance team.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of current and emerging laws, regulations, codes, and recent enforcement actions and inform and educate business colleagues with tailored communications in collaboration with the Global Operations team.

  • Help to establish standards and implement procedures to ensure the Compliance program effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships and collaborate frequently with Legal, Human Resources, Internal Audit, and colleagues in other functional areas across International, and the Global organization.
  • Support continuous improvement of the Global Compliance program.
