Benthic is looking to add a meticulous
Workshop Technician to the team.

The Workshop Technician is responsible for all survey equipment and associated stores/stock from; point of purchase or receipt from rental supplier, storage, repair and planned maintenance at ACTEON Geo-services premises, and safe dispatch to and return from project location.

The Workshop Technician shall ensure that all equipment supplied to projects is configured correctly, and calibrations and certification is current.


Duties

  • Assist to maintain, review and improve workshop and equipment standard procedures on a continual improvement cycle
  • Ensure compliance of legislation/legal requirements for local and international shipping
  • Confirm that equipment is tested and properly operating prior to shipping
  • Received purchased/third party equipment should be tested, and prepared for storage on site or issued and dispatched to project locations
  • Produce detailed equipment manifest for vessel delivery
  • Monitor equipment status and location throughout project lifecycle and be responsible for identification, documentation, and action on planned maintenance and equipment calibration/certification as required
  • Comment and manage defect reports raised/received
  • Identify and mitigate potential equipment related technical, QHSE risks for assigned projects
  • Administer and manage specific project or workshop tasks assigned by the Senior Base Engineer or Project Support Manager
  • Assist where required to carry out mobilization and vessel/site assessments as assigned by the Survey Operations Manager
  • Maintain the workshop, and warehouse environments ensuring all QHSE requirements are met and all personnel and visitors are briefed and adhere to workshop protocols that are in force
  • Ensure that warehouse and work areas are clearly delineated, and purpose of each area is clear to all
  • Ensure that equipment QHSE records and safety data sheets are uploaded to management system in a timely manner
  • Maintain a library of equipment specifications/user manuals and ensure that all equipment is shipped with the correct documentation/software and recommended spare parts
  • Attend and assist where required mobilization of vessels, reporting and taking instruction from either the assigned UTEC Project Manager or UTEC Senior Site Representative while on vessel
  • Attend vessel inductions and QHSE briefings as requested
  • Adherence to Standard or Project procedures while involved in tasks on vessel
  • Ensure that mobilization/demobilization support equipment is returned to base and or suppliers as appropriate
  • Regularly review equipment maintenance costs and identify possible efficiencies and report them to Survey Operations Manager
  • Produce Purchase Orders in a timely manner to allow accounts department to process and Project Managers/ Survey Operations Manager to incorporate into P&L reports in time for regional monthly P&L meeting

Required

  • Undertake agreed training and development in order to provide a framework of knowledge and skills required to perform effectively in UTEC
  • Participate in annual and regular performance appraisal with Line Manager identifying and agreeing personal development and action plans
  • Must be teamoriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is essential
  • Ability to perform tasks and achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and precision
  • Ability to work both independently and within teams
  • Must hold a valid passport free from status or restrictive conditions that preclude travel to and work in countries where the Company routinely operates
