Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Communications Specialist to join our Ashland business at our Sao Paulo, Brazil location.

This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Communications function.

This position will report to the Vice President Corporate Affairs, Global Marketing, Brand and Business Communications located in the U.S.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Plan and execute the regional communications plan including tradeshows, advertising and public relations, content development for the website, literature, social media and more in coordination with the brand leader, global marketing communications leader, business leaders and other colleagues, leveraging brand assets
  • Draft / manage the translation of press releases, manage approval of materials and distribution as necessary
  • Coordinate the development of printed and digital marketing materials including newsletters, technical literature, presentations, direct mail, press releases and advertising
  • Ensure alignment of regional communications by leveraging the global strategy to support business priorities
  • Partner with communications colleagues and business leaders to garner local feature media coverage for Ashland, its products and business leaders

  • Up to 20 percent travel may be required
In order to be qualified for this role, you


_must possess_ the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or related field


  • Bilingual

  • English and Portuguese, with Spanish language capability preferred
  • Strategic thinker with handson mentality
  • At least 10 years of strategic marketing communications experience
  • Proven track record of developing and executing businesstobusiness marketing communication plans, messages and tactics
  • Demonstrated writing and editing experience, preferably with both industrial and consumer products
  • Selfstarter who is skilled at planning, creating, and producing marketing communications deliverables under limited supervision
  • Outstanding writer who is skilled at developing compelling content in a wide variety of communications channels, including video and social media
  • Experience working in a dynamic, fastpaced, teamdriven environment
  • Positive and cando attitude
  • Good listener and team player who has proven experience developing strong working relationships with colleagues
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong PC skills; Microsoft Office Applications, Excel, proficient in PowerPoint

  • Communications experience in a large international company for the personal care and paints markets
