    The Risk Product Engineering team's mission is to protect Uber and our customers globally by reducing Payment & Marketplace Fraud Losses while protecting users and accelerating growth. We build best in class Risk Systems that proactively manage fraud losses by early detecting and actioning on fraud activities across Uber eco systems with least impacts on growth funnels. We operate globally and partner with many organizations within Uber to build real-time scalable risk solutions leveraging advanced ML predictions. We scale to millions of users and make billions of risk decisions every day, for example, GPS Spoofing detection for drivers/courier, DNS/CB reduction on fraudulent rider/eater accounts, post trip refund and appeasement fraud prevention etc. We are growing fast, onboarding and expanding risk protection for new product lines, new payment instruments and supporting the scale of Uber lines of business growth.

    What the Candidate Will Do

    • You will manage a team of software engineers to deliver world-class risk solutions in a highly agile and fast paced environment
    • Partner with cross functional stakeholders, PMs, DSA and MLE engineers, help see opportunities, gather requirements, and lead a technology roadmap and vision for the team
    • Recruit, encourage, and grow a top notch engineering team
    • Develop systems and software to bring world class fraud detection to global Uber

    Basic Qualifications

    • At least seven (7) years of software engineering experience
    • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, Physics, or Mathematics, or related field
    • Strong experience developing software as an engineer
    • Strong experience leading engineering teams, at least two (2) years of software development manager experience
    • Significant experience building and operating critical high-scale systems
    • Phenomenal management and team development skills: ability to set roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate intelligently, mentor engineers, deliver frequent and transparent feedback, help team members grow in their careers, and deliver results
    • Expertise and curiosity about growing teams: interviewing junior and senior engineers, collaborating with a recruiting team, efficiently onboarding new team members
    • Good software engineering methodology: meaningful and deeply-rooted opinions about testing and code quality, ability to make sound quality/speed trade-offs
    • Outstanding technical skills in engineering: Uber managers can lead from the front when the situation calls for it
    • Proficient in English

    Bonus Points if

    • Past experiences leading Risk or FinTech software product development
    • Previous experience with Risk, Fraud Detection and Machine Learning
