Your Role and Responsibilities

External Communications Leader - IBM Latin America will work with Communications leaders and teams in the markets and the global team acting as a steward for IBM's brand and reputation and ensuring consistency of messaging across external audiences.

The external communications responsibilities will include adapting content from global campaigns - specially in AI - and also creating original content to impact the different markets in Latin America, by influencing industry editors, journalists, and other opinion makers in Latin America.

This professional acts as a liason to connect the company's corporate strategies and announcements with the local, and national agenda to drive relevance and impact in the countries.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate external communications campaigns on AI and other key topics for the business
  • Lead IBM's external communication strategy. Develop content, narratives and training to key spokepersons
  • Manage relationships with key opinion makers, media and influencers in Latin America
  • Develop regional announcements that boost IBM positioning in Latin America
  • Lead customer reference program for Latin America
  • Manage editorial calendar for the region
  • Measure impact based upon quantitative and qualitative metrics;
  • Develop innovative ideas to boost IBM leadership and share of voice in Latin America
  • Connect with Social media team to implement a digital first approach
  • Monitor competitors and align local communications strategy to neutralize competitor's announcements impact;
  • Lead media announcements in Latin America in alignment with markets/global teams
  • Develop Experiences for reporters such as Round tables, Press Tours, and other media tactics.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Communications professional with extensive experience in corporate communications in Latin America
  • Solid experience in team leadership
  • Experience working with public relations agencies, advising highlevel executives, managing brand reputation, knowledge of and relationships with
  • Latin America media, and development of corporate communication strategies for the positioning of B2B brands
  • Creative, innovative, collaborative, and solid knowledge of the traditional and digital media industry
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English required.
  • Team player and creative mindset is a must.
  • The role will report to Latin America Communications Head.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience in multinational companies and international experience is preferred
  • Technology industry expertise is a plus
  • Spanish and Portugues fluency ideal
