About The Role


Are you eager to tackle a new challenge? If you describe yourself as a motivated, cooperative, and detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with policy wording and a team of underwriters from around the globe, then add to your experience and join Swiss Re Corporate Solutions as a Lead International Casualty Underwriter in Brazil supporting our large corporate and mid-market Casualty and FINPRO International Programs team.


You will be responsible for providing policy wording and technical underwriting guidance and support to Brazilian Companies which have the need to place local coverage in different countries.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Brazil FinPro P&L;
  • Present and implement portfolio solutions in order to achieve main key performance indicators.
  • Provide training and guidance for the team in Brazil.
  • Structure underwriting of large corporate and midmarket Executive Risks International Programs by reviewing Master policy and all local policies and endorsements in line with Underwriting Guidelines, agreed exceptions and regulatory framework.
  • Collaborates with Integrated Risk Solutions team to provide bespoke solutions for both fully fronted, reinsurance of captive and/or indemnity structured programs.
  • Effectively use Swiss Re tools and systems for oversight of local servicing policies.
  • Ensure International Program guidelines are adhered to and keep casualty insurance knowledge up to date.
  • Ensure FinPro guidelines are adhered to and keep insurance knowledge up to date.
  • Strong business and client focus with proven record of delivering high service standards
  • External communication with insureds and brokers, as requested, requiring competent technical knowhow, language skills, initiative, and service orientation.
  • Ability and proven track record of handling complex and international accounts/transactions.
  • Identifies changes and improvements for the information resource platform Knowledge Tool relating to the FinPro markets.
  • Works effectively within client teams.
  • Provide support on technical analysis across the region doing 4 eyes and approving referrals from Mexico, Colombia, and Wholesale Teams.
  • Support implementation of FinPro Products in Mexico.

About The Team
FinPro Brazil Team team is critical to the ongoing growth and success of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.

We are focusing on develop Executive Risks portfolio, bring new solutions from abroad to Brazil and also develop our international program capabilities as Production Office.

This team is critical to the underwriting process by performing the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Profitable underwriting of Executive Risks among other Financial Lines products
  • High interaction and coordination with Operations as well as other functional areas such as Finance, Contracts and Wording, Compliance, Claims, Products and Underwriting colleagues from around the globe.
  • High level of competency on D&O Commercial, USA exposed businesses, more complex International Business processes, tools and systems, to act as a resource and coach for others.
  • Proactively problem solve to meet and exceed client/broker expectations with internal standards. Participate in ongoing reviews and task analysis, making recommendations from which business decisions are based.
  • Attend Brazilian FinPro Underwriting trends and international regulations.
  • Adhere to established performance standards and metrics applicable to the business divisions supported.

About You

  • University graduate with a minimum 15 years of underwriting experience.
  • In depth knowledge of insurance, Commercial D&O and other Financial Lines products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain sophisticated technical issues to a nonexpert audience.
  • Strong analytical skills, organization skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong customer focus and service orientation and have excellent digital literacy.
  • Ability to complete work independently and possess strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with others while being sensitive to cultural differences.
  • Agile and flexible, ability to operate within a changing environment.
  • Takes accountability for areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates willingness to seek new knowledge and tasks, questions current processes, and able to suggest improvements.
  • Fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
