PURPOSE

This job exists to assist with the development and preparation of cost estimates and analyse tender requirements for competitive bidding to meet & exceed current and future strategic financial objectives.

The role will drive a culture of strong commercial thinking, alignment as well as contract/commercial negotiations with various parties.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Among others)
Prepare and present monthly/ weekly reports and in so doing identify trends and potential cost savings;
Ensure that all site records are accurate and can substantiate the cost of proposals;
Comply with best-practice commercial management processes and policies and procedures in line with business requirements;
Ensure continuous improvement of said processes and policy and procedure;
Draft, implement and ensure compliance with the Group Commercial pipeline document and ensure alignment between this document and the Proposal Process Policy;
Manage and coordinate the contracts review process;
Resolve contractual and commercial problems;
Offer direction and instruction, review and develop operational process flows;
Monitor subcontractor and supplier accounts from initial procurement through to final accounts;
Maintain Proposal registers; Assist on the reporting of effective and efficient resource utilization in line with the project strategy. This will support effective project delivery and future accuracy of bid proposals;
Ensure customer receipt of all required warranty, guarantee, and instruction documentation on time;
Deliver excellent, accurate, and timely work to the organization and its clients consistently;
Negotiate and administer appropriate and timeous escalation on all contracts in the division;
Manage scope changes and contract variations.


QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a relevant Business administration or equivalent.


EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 5-8 years' technical and practical Minerals, Infrastructure and/ or Chemical sector, and ideally at least 5 years' cost management and cost control experience in projects;
At least 5 or more years of relevant experience in engineering projects;
International (Africa/Latin America) experience will be advantageous.

SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Experience in utilizing Excel advanced level, and highly skilled in Microsoft Office suite;
Solid understanding of the Mining Industry with specific emphasis on the Tailings business;
Knowledge and understanding of the national legislation, standards and bylaws applicable to Tailings business;
Excellent knowledge and understanding of technical and operational aspects core to the tailings industry;
Excellent knowledge of estimating best practices.
