The Public Affairs Officer Grp Mgr is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Leads and directs a team of professionals.

Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function.

Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. External communication is necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Involved in short
- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.


Responsibilities:


  • Formulates external and internal communications strategies.
  • Build relationships with senior management and secure endorsement of communications plan
  • Draft, implement and evaluate proactive public relations (PR) plans to support the businesses
  • Provide general public affairs counsel and support to senior executives including developing public affairs plans that reflect the business/franchise goals.
  • Primary focus on enhancing and protecting the bank's reputation in the marketplace against a defined set of constituents: employees, clients/customers, media and industry influencers, government/regulators.
  • Assist in speech writing for senior management for different occasions
  • Manage PR agency, budget and relevant vendor relationships
  • Operate as a key media contact for all issues relating to Citi franchise
  • Develop and present persuasive media proposals to product teams resulting in high share of voice
  • Identify significant media and public policy issues that to promote and/or protect Citi
  • Manage media and blogger relations, pitch stories and track results.
  • Manage and coordinate corporate thought leadership initiatives for the firm (conferences, speaker series, white papers, opinion editorials etc)
  • Advise senior management and approved spokespeople on media opportunities and issues as they develop
  • Provide media training for spokesmen and participate in media interviews.
  • Draft and edit all written materials for external constituents (award pitches, joint statements, annual report)
  • Handle crisis scenarios provide strategic advice to management and handle media inquiries
  • Maintain and execute crisis management plans when required
  • Initiate, manage & maintain Citi's employee communication program
  • Support executives with internal communication needs including drafting organizational announcements, initiativespecific communications and internal talking points or coordinating events as needed
  • Assist Employee & Client communications with regional efforts as needed
  • Draft communication material including presentations and speeches
  • Feed Citi's global portals and publications with local news and, in parallel, promote Citi's franchise within the organization

Qualifications:


  • 20 + years of relevant experience

Education:


  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
