The Public Affairs Officer Grp Mgr is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Leads and directs a team of professionals.

Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function.

Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. External communication is necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Involved in short
- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.

Responsibilities:

Formulates external and internal communications strategies.
Build relationships with senior management and secure endorsement of communications plan
Draft, implement and evaluate proactive public relations (PR) plans to support the businesses
Provide general public affairs counsel and support to senior executives including developing public affairs plans that reflect the business/franchise goals.
Primary focus on enhancing and protecting the bank's reputation in the marketplace against a defined set of constituents: employees, clients/customers, media and industry influencers, government/regulators.
Assist in speech writing for senior management for different occasions
Manage PR agency, budget and relevant vendor relationships
Operate as a key media contact for all issues relating to Citi franchise
Develop and present persuasive media proposals to product teams resulting in high share of voice
Identify significant media and public policy issues that to promote and/or protect Citi
Manage media and blogger relations, pitch stories and track results.
Manage and coordinate corporate thought leadership initiatives for the firm (conferences, speaker series, white papers, opinion editorials etc)
Advise senior management and approved spokespeople on media opportunities and issues as they develop
Provide media training for spokesmen and participate in media interviews.
Draft and edit all written materials for external constituents (award pitches, joint statements, annual report)
Handle crisis scenarios provide strategic advice to management and handle media inquiries
Maintain and execute crisis management plans when required
Initiate, manage & maintain Citi's employee communication program
Support executives with internal communication needs including drafting organizational announcements, initiativespecific communications and internal talking points or coordinating events as needed
Assist Employee & Client communications with regional efforts as needed
Draft communication material including presentations and speeches
Feed Citi's global portals and publications with local news and, in parallel, promote Citi's franchise within the organization

Qualifications:

20 + years of relevant experience

Education:

Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
