The Business Development Manager is responsible to grow our business through the acquisitions of new business partners, the development of value-added propositions to key accounts and direct-to-grower strategies.

This is pure sales role and will require astute business acumen to properly identify new routes to market as well as elaborating and more than anything implementing strategies that will generate exponential business growth.


This role concerns Prospera's entire product portfolio, ranging from our remote monitoring & control solutions to our more advanced & value-add solutions like Plants & Irrigation Insights and Valley Scheduling.


The Business Development Manager is responsible for ensuring that newly acquired partners in their territory are properly trained on sales, installation and operation of Prospera's technical products and services.


Requirements:


  • Masters with 5+ years relevant experience OR 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Two years' experience working directly with dealer sales and service personal
  • The ability to travel in local area and internationally, if assigned, up to 50% of the time
  • The ability to resolve complex problems and large challenges
  • The ability to establish and cultivate excellent working relationships with dealers and customers
  • Strategic thinking ability with tactical and detailed execution
  • Expertise in the use of influence, team participation, consensus building and dealer/customer/grower communication
  • The ability to work independently & remotely within a broader sales team to achieve company goals beyond assigned territory
  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
  • A degree in Engineering, Business, Agricultural Mechanization and Business, Agricultural Sciences (agronomy, soil science, crop production, etc.), Mechanized Agriculture or Agricultural Economics is preferred
  • Experience with mechanized irrigated agriculture preferred
  • Experience with irrigation scheduling preferred
  • Experience working with GPS equipment
  • Experience with cellular communications networks
  • A strong understanding of electronics, computerized control modules, VHF (very high frequency)/UHF (ultrahigh frequency) communication methods, satellite and cellular communication technologies, PLC (programmable logic controllers) and GPS (global positioning system) technologies is preferred

Responsibilities:

Technology dealers & installers and agronomy consultants

  • Understand the needs of end users and partners in their assigned territory to further the adoption of Prospera's technical products & services to grow market share and revenue
  • Ensure that Valley Dealer Performance Programs are enforced
  • Identify potential partners by focusing primarily on zones where growers are not well attended for their technology & services needs
  • Segment and prioritize partners by geography, competence / expertise and potential / size
  • Build & execute onboarding trainings, set targets
  • Meets with new partners in assigned territory on a regular basis to maintain current knowledge of the end users, preferences and opportunities for sales
  • Achieving sales goals is a primary focus along with preparing sales plans and reports, analyze sales results and revise plans accordingly to maximize sales
  • In the case of agronomy consultants, develop a franchised approach with partners allowing them to focus on grower relations & visits
Key Accounts

  • Coordinate approach with Valley KA team and Prospera Irrigation/Agronomy specialists
  • Segment and prioritize accounts with greatest potential
  • Develop valueproposition provided by technology
  • Attend key customer meetings & ensure the technology agenda is highest on the list
Direct-to-Growers

  • Focus on acquiring nontech Valley & competition customers
  • Prioritize geographies & customers together with Prospera marketing, taking in particular into account the availability and usability of customer contact information
  • Work hand in hand with Prospera's marketing team to develop content, strategies and execution on approaching directly to growers
  • Lead the process of leads generation management and followup as a consequence of the generated campaigns
