Result of ServiceThe consultant will carry out the following:
- planning of design and methodology development of the retreat for the a) inspirational talks and discussions with high level specialists and the b) internal group discussions and co-design process to develop the strategy.
To achieve the objectives the consultant will carried out, among others, the following activities:
- Document with a complete logical thread, detailed agenda, and description of the facilitation methodology for the different phases.
- Participant's Guide containing crucial information for the good development of the retreat.
- A strategy with a Theory of Change and an action plan.

Responsibilities:
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
The UNEP Latin America and the Caribbean Office (LACO), located in Panama City, works closely with the 33 countries of the region and its activities are integrated into the Medium-Term Strategy and the Programme of Work approved by the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA).
The Amazon agenda is a global priority to bring solutions that address the triple planetary crisis. The dimensions and urgency of the challenge require actions in the same proportion. This momentum opens opportunities for UNEP to increase its work in support to countries in this priority ecosystem.UNEP is hosting an internal retreat to develop a strategy for UNEP ́s action in the Brazilian Amazon to be held in Brasília
- Brazil from 03rd to 5th April, 2023, as the conduit to facilitate the internal discussions, strategic thinking, and codesign process. High level participation in this retreat from Headquarters (HQ) is anticipated (Division Directors and/or heads of branch). The main result from the retreat will be a draft strategy and an action plan to be presented to the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director for consideration, feedback, and eventual approval. The strategy will provide guidance on how to rapidly align UNEP ́s interventions, including mobilization of resources, advocacy, awareness raising and implementation of initiatives to effectively contribute to the achievement of a more sustainable development for this region.
In this context, UNEP Brazil is seeking a consultant to greater optimization of the retreat results, to provide technical service to support the planning, facilitation, and reporting activities for the development of the ONE-UNEP strategy for the Brazilian Amazon.
The incumbent will be supervised by the UNEP Brazil Representative and the work location for this position is in Brasilia, Brazil.
Qualifications/special skillsMaster's degree in international cooperation, sustainable development, participation process or co-related areas.
- A minimum of (10) years of relevant experience in facilitation of participatory strategic planning processes
- Demonstrate specific experience of at least (5) years of professional experience in facilitating participatory processes of international organizations
- Experience with the environmental agenda.
Fluent English is required.
