Your role

This job is part of the Finance Shared Services (FSS) organization, which was established as one of the key elements of a new operating model for AbbVie to provide accurate financial accounting and reporting for all international affiliates.

The Accounting Analyst provides accounting services for the businesses supported, coordinates month end close processes ensuring integrity and accuracy of entity financials according to AbbVie's policies and procedures and collaborates with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) teams in the preparation of the entity's Plan for DSO, Balance Sheet and Entity Planning among others.

You will be responsible for

Manage and coordinate the financial close process and review GL account reconciliations.
Prepare, review and reconcile actual data and systems utilized (SAP, BPC, HFM) and investigates/resolves any discrepancies.
Review monthly balance sheet variances vs benchmark and provide commentary.
Work closely with affiliates and Area on the creation and submission of the yearly Plan and Update for the balance sheet and entity's P&L.
Review financial and accounting analysis involving complex transactions including but not limited to fixed asset activity, intercompany activity, and cost allocations in line with Corporate policies.
Fixed asset responsibility for businesses supported and serve as capital coordinator including interface with Project Accounting, project set up, and monitoring of the subledger for capitalizations/disposals.
Performs ad hoc analysis and support projects as needed.
Serves as direct contact for and supports Sarbanes Oxley, Tax, and Audit requests including documentation and testing procedures, internal/external audits and intercompany billings for tax allocation purposes.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent with 5+ years of accounting experience
Strong computer skills, particularly experience with Excel and SAP are required.
Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated continuous improvement mindset are needed
Strong written and verbal skills enabling effective communication with all levels of management
Ability to work independently and adjust priorities to achieve accurate and timely results.
Strong organizational skills required to coordinate and manage multiple cross divisional work process and projects;
Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
