Senior Corporate Tax Advisor

What's the role?


The Corporate Tax Advisor provides local and cross-border tax advice and planning to the Business and Functions, focusing efforts on areas of the highest complexity, risk, and added value.

The role will be responsible for, amongst others, corporate, Trading and New Energies, all of which are expected to deliver considerable growth within the region.

Also, you will be responsible of the following duties:

  • Discuss tax impacts on Raizen transactions/deals.
  • Supports the Corporate Tax Manager by acting as firstline tax support providing local, customs, and crossborder tax advice and planning to the Businesses and Functions.
  • Also, supports treasury discussions (e.g., PPE, capital reduction, dividends, interest on equity and others), intragroup agreements, H&R (payroll taxes), all related to tax consequences.
  • Works with internal and external stakeholders to design and recommend optimal tax solutions and corporate structures to meet legal requirements, reduce exposure, and maximize shareholder value, including handling tax audits, defense, and disputes when needed.
  • Operates at senior levels in the Businesses and Functions, where stakeholder seniority ranges (FitB, Controllers, Legal, Commercial, BTM, VP business, Cch etc).

Requirements:


_ What we need from you - _

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the Brazil on a fulltime basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Minimum 10 years of working experience in tax advisory roles. Preference will be given to those with experience in corporate taxation
  • Bachelor's degree in Law is preferable
  • Appropriate technical, professional, and business knowledge/experience/qualifications
  • Strong technical knowledge of corporate and M&A Brazilian Law
  • Ability to design and recommend optimal corporate structures and tax concepts
  • Assist in improving the tax efficiency of the corporate structure within area of responsibility
  • Strong knowledge of Double Tax treaties signed by Brazil and international taxation discussions
  • Indirect Tax and Special Regimes for the oil and gas industry experience is a plus
  • Ability to evaluate tax risks and balance risk with Business objectives, and make recommendations that are objective, practical, technically appropriate, and supportive of the Business.
  • Ability to proactively engage and build relationships with other departments
  • Gaining and maintaining the confidence of client management and operational staff, convincing same of the value of tax considerations in structuring and implementing business transactions.
  • Strong team working, organizational and communication skills
  • Capacity of prioritization and escalation as appropriated

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including report writing skills
  • Fluency in English. Other language skills would be a benefit
