Main purpose of position

Currently we are looking for a
Tax Lead in São Paulo, Brazil to be part of our global team working together towards our vision -
Improving our future. As our Tax Lead you will Assist in all aspects of direct and indirect tax in the for the local entities in country.


Main responsibilities

  • Local tax (direct and indirect) and tax structuring, both with regards to manage risk and optimize returns for projects in the development stage, but also existing projects. Desirable strong knowledge of VAT tax, specially ICMS.
  • Advice on optimal funding instruments of project companies and operating companies in order to reduce trapped cash, FX exposure, tax exposure.
  • Work in close relationship with the Business Development department on development of projects, including reviewing assumptions in financial models.
  • Review contracts and assist in drafting contracts that are in line with structuring decisions and ensure tax exposure is reduced.
  • Transfer pricing work with the Group Transfer Pricing team and ensure transfer pricing is considered in the structuring and ensure compliance on transfer pricing for your geographic area in the Scatec Group.
  • Monitor and ensure general global compliance within the tax area.
  • Manage tax audits and tax controversy matters in your geographic area and respond to questions from the tax authorities.
  • Develop routines/policies/internal control (including operating system) within the tax area.
  • Monitor tax legislation in the countries Scatec is established and assess measures to optimize ongoing operations.
  • Provide technical support/advice and assistance on routines activities and tax local requirement performed internally or by an outsourcing company.
  • Manage projects and ad hoc tasks in daily basis.
  • Assist/participate within the Finance and Control organization on matters unrelated to tax when the activity level allows.

Qualifications and competencies

  • Education: Graduate in Accounting, Law or Business, preferably with masters degree within finance/law
  • Experience: At least 35 years of experience from working with tax matters and structuring, preferably at a Big 4, large law firm or inhouse position
  • Language: advance written and spoken in English
  • Competences: Contractual management of outsourcing company, strong knowledge in VAT tax, specially ICMS, tax planning and business strategy, transfer pricing.
