Job Duties and Responsibilities:


  • The Communication Engineer will ensure that the communication systems within the mining environment are efficient, reliable, and meet industry standards.
  • Survey mining sites to determine the quality of the network, the most effective locations for communication equipment and infrastructure.
  • Design communication systems, including wireless networks, LTE networks, and local area networks, that meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Install and configure communication equipment, including routers, switches, access points, and other related hardware and software.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, including connectivity, latency, bandwidth, and security issues.
  • Conduct periodic maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal network performance.
  • Collaborate with other product engineers and IT professionals to identify and implement new technologies and best practices.
  • Coordinate the homologation process at ANATEL and the Authorized test labs, for new products and keep the existing licenses up to date, taking care of the necessary paperwork.

Travel Requirements:


  • Availability to travel to remote mining locations for multiple weeks and work in challenging conditions._

Required Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in telecommunication engineering, computer networks, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in communication engineering, with a focus on designing and troubleshooting networks in mining or other industrial environments.
  • Deep understanding of CSMA/CD and CSMA/CA standards, TCP/IP and UPD protocols, spanning tree, wireless signal propagation, wireless mesh networks, and possible sources of interferences.
  • Knowledge of Brazilian regulatory standards for telecommunications and the ANATEL product homologation process.
  • Cisco network certifications and/or CWNP certifications are a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, spoken and written in Portuguese and English, with the ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical stakeholders.
