The CFO, South America cluster reports into the CFO, Region Americas and is part of the extended Finance management team.

Achieving the financial, strategic and other goals set for LATAM countries (South America Cluster) in compliance with the DB Group specifications and in consideration of legal requirements as well as tax-related specifications with responsibility shared with all members of the company Management.


Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Decisions on measures in the SA Cluster and the assigned companies up to the specified value limits.
  • Financial planning & budgeting
  • Provide forecasting, estimates and supporting the strategic direction for the SA cluster internal business unit /function and developing these into short term plans (budget)
  • For the SA cluster economic performance and target achievement and for the achievement of the country Finance/Controlling budget and performance targets
  • Business controlling
  • Drive financial and operational performance and initiate corrective measures to achieve profitability targets, manage cost modelling process and profitability analysis (by product, customer, lane, etc.)
  • Project controlling / investment review
  • Support business in evaluating business proposals with a view to maximizing returns whilst minimizing risk, including assessment of capital investment and divestment projects and involvement in acquisition proposals
  • Financial control
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and DB Group policies and manage funding and liquidity requirements with the support of the DB Group treasury functions
  • Financial performance analysis and reporting
  • Conduct commercial reporting as the basis of the required assessment of measures and projects and of the provision of information regarding the management of the SA cluster and relevant to decision making, recommendations where appropriate
  • Hold periodic reviews with managers / staff
  • Accounting
  • Oversee delivery of all accounting activities for the SA Cluster either through own internal accounting team or internal provider (GASSC)
  • Tax management and planning
  • Ensure optimal tax position for the business in conjunction with DB corporate tax and utilizing internal or external country cluster tax expertise
  • Commercial support Support business partners in commercial negotiations with customers, suppliers with particular reference to pricing, payment terms, liability cover, termination costs and credit risk
  • KonTraG, BilMoG, Risk reporting and ICS Ensure information flow and reporting for the early identification of corporately threatening risks or developments according to relevant legal requirements [Germany only: the Corporate Sector Supervision and Transparency Act] and assure adherence of the Country to Internal Control Standards (ICS)
  • Procurement and Real Estate
  • Ensure Procurement and management of categories handled within the SA cluster
  • Fundamental issues
  • Ensure information of the SA Cluster management regarding all issues of fundamental importance in the area of responsibility
  • Representation
  • External and internal representation of legal entity regarding financial issues/affairs to all business partners, authorities and third parties of all kinds
  • Legal, Risk Management and Claims
  • Ensure handling of contract risk, insurance and claims matters through appropriate legal counseling
  • Disciplinary management including replacements and nominations of local Finance/Controlling managers
  • Support regional management in development of SA Cluster DB Schenker Finance strategies (Accounting, Controlling, Finance, Procurement, Risk Management, Real Estate Management, Legal, Claims & Loss Prevention/Risk Analysis & Insurance Mgt.)
  • Support SA Cluster business development activities based on respective DB Schenker strategies
  • All important financial issues/risks, legal affairs and business development activities of organizational units of assigned legal entitiesDetails/Specification/Explanation of the role specific skills
  • An extremely high level of business acumen, as well as exceptional financial planning, critical thinking, communication, delegation, diversity management, leadership, decisionmaking, and influencing skills are required.
