Job Overview:

The senior buyer is responsible for strategic sourcing, negotiation, procurement, subcontracting, and supplier management.

He receives requisitions, executes the quotation process, and realizes the purchase of services, products, raw materials, and equipment for the company.

He is responsible for following up the flow of deliveries, developing suppliers of materials and services, as well as supervising the purchasing process and managing contracts


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Leverage global MCDEMORTT (GMSA) agreements;
  • Ability to develop negotiation strategies and tactical moves;
  • Understand MCDERMOTT strengths to leverage negotiations and have the ability to turn threats or weaknesses into opportunities;
  • Endtoend (E2E) accountability.
  • Create PO in Oracle and support Finance to manage payment forecast;
  • Ability to understand project schedule and critical paths;
  • Market analysis, including research of potential vendors;
  • Liaise with internal customers for new sourcing requirements and subcontracts;
  • Responsible for preparing requests for proposals in accordance with policies and procedures;
  • Conduct commercial evaluation of proposals
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms and conditions of contracts according to policies and procedures (master service contracts, license contracts, corporate type contracts, etc.)
  • Complete and obtain signatures on all approval documentation;
  • Negotiate cost reductions and savings with vendors;
  • Be familiar and uptodate with best practices in negotiating and procuring services
  • Renew existing contracts and licenses that are expired or about to expire;
  • Ensure that contractual requirements are met by the vendor and that required documents such as reports, insurance certificates, etc., as applicable, are received in a timely manner;
  • Manage changes to the contract and purchase orders through the appropriate change order process;
  • Manage the invoicing and payment process for contracts/purchase orders;
  • Ensure that all documents are properly filed in the appropriate systems;
  • Perform audits to ensure compliance with multiple vendors;
  • Provide periodic progress reports as required;
  • Manage commercial closeout of contracts;
  • Compliance with global processes, procedures and policies.
  • Make continuous improvement recommendations for relevant processes, procedures, policies and systems.
  • Ability to perform cost and data analysis.

Essential Qualifications and Education:


  • Bachelor's degree in foreign Trade, Business Administration, Economics, Law, Engineering, International Relations or something related to the position + Post Graduation/MBA desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing and subcontracting preferably in an EPCI company, related to oil and gas;
  • Advanced English;
  • Computer skills in Microsoft programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook compatible with the use of these programs in your activities.
  • Experience in sourcing and evaluating commercial proposals;
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft SharePoint and SPMAT.
