Purpose/Key Objectives of the Job


The Credit & Collections Team Lead is responsible for leading a specific area of expertise in the process ensuring that credit and collections areas are delivering the maximum contribution to the overall departmental targets which is to minimize credit risk exposure, minimize DSO, minimize overdue balances, minimize bad debt write off and maximize sales (growth).


Responsibilities

  • To manage the credit & collection team for the areas and companies assigned.
  • Support to set credit limits for customers, liaising with country Sales Management, Credit Control and other management as appropriate
  • Support to drive the improvement in overdue debt and collection effectiveness for the countries and companies under your control.
  • Manage legal collections, support to verify the prepared paperwork for liquidations and receiverships, liaising with external legal representatives as required.
  • Support to provide qualitative information to management regarding overdue debt and other relevant Credit Control KPI's.
  • Support to drive the resolution of disputes and minimize the turnaroundtime or manage according the SLA.
  • Support rebates analysis and drive the payout execution within SLA.
  • Ensure and monitor team's compliance with legislation and Global Credit Policy.
  • Translate strategy into constructive action on all levels of the business and within all departments.
  • Act as a business partner for both internal and external stakeholders to ensure sound risk management as well as identify and action on opportunities to realize revenue growth.
  • Daily progressing (legal) overdue trade receivables, outstanding disputes and verify and execute rebates.
  • Support on setting credit limits in respect of local customers using BvD, or equivalent, Credit Information system.
  • Updating Credit management module/system in respect of known problems to provide information and guidance to Sales and Credit Control personnel in other AN offices/countries.
  • Provide reliable and well documented risk advice to senior management and/or sales department based on accurate assessment and evaluation of all appropriate internal & external factors and objectives. Ensure that changes to credit limits comply with the global credit policy
  • Participate in standard reporting cycle and issue ad hoc reports on portfolio performance for analytical purposes and stakeholder sharing.
  • Manage the disputes turnaroundtime
  • Production of monthly figures for the analysis of aged debt and monthly STOP lists.
  • Advise MDM team of discovered (future) changes in customer master data.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in in Accounting, Business or Finance.
  • Post-Graduation (differential).
  • Previous experience in the credit and collection or accounts payable sectors ( Mandatory)
  • Languages: Fluent English (mandatory), Spanish (nice to have)
  • CI mindset
  • Solid finance experience.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Working within a multicultural environment.
  • Experience in AkzoNobel tools (e.g. SAP, FSCM, MFGpro, EBS).
  • Able to set priorities and work independently.
  • Extended knowledge of invoice to cash end to end process and experience.
  • Commercial focus and balanced decision making
