Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

The British Consulate in São Paulo is recruiting for one
DBT Financial Services Commercial Intern.


The UK's Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has overall responsibility for promoting UK trade across the world and attracting foreign investment.

We are a specialised government body with responsibility for negotiating international trade policy, supporting business, as well as delivering an outward-looking trade diplomacy strategy.


You will have the opportunity to participate at commercial meetings, organize events and research in order to develop your professional skills and experience to enhance your future career prospects.

The position will suit an energetic, motivated self-starter with an interest in the sector. We also expect strong organisational skills and attention to detail.


Roles and responsibilities:


  • Provide administrative support to the team delivering of visit programmes, events, meetings and activities for the office and government visitors.
  • Lead on organising travel agendas and logístical arrangements, including booking flights, hotels and vehicles
  • Provide support to the organisation of events such as trade missions, seminars and official visits;
  • Provide support to the organisation of meetings and activities for team members and government visitors;
  • Provide support to the organisation of events such as trade missions, seminars and official visits;
  • Assisting in the preparation of market research reports, briefings and visiting programmes;
  • Accompanying meetings with Brazilian and UK companies, both virtually and in person;
  • Analysing trade data, news, and sector information related to the relevant sectors;
  • Providing administrative support to the team;
  • Conduct research, providing support on identifying regulatory and policy issues relating to Financial Services;
  • Provide support on promoting the UK's wider economic and political objectives;
  • Keeping and updating records of interactions with clients on Client Relationship Management systems, under the guidance of the sector manager;
Essential qualifications, skills and experience


Essential on arrival:


  • Fluent English, with excellent writing and speaking capabilities;
  • Fluent Portuguese, with excellent writing and speaking capabilities;
  • Strong research, reading comprehension, attention to detail and be a good communicator;
  • Teamworking skills, opened to learn and receive feedback.
  • Eligibility to work and live in Brazil is required.

Language requirements:


Language:
English; Portuguese.


Level of language required:
Fluent.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience


Desirable:


  • Any past internship or professional experiences, particularly if working on any public organisation and in government relations.

Other benefits and conditions of employment


Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.

Eligibility to work and live in Brazil is required.

Hybrid, with 3 days a week in the office. May change in the future.
