Agriculture Policies

Building a more sustainable future, respecting communities, preserving the native flora, fauna, soil and waters on which life depends is a task that requires coordination between actors in the production chain, government, and society.

Together we will influence the creation of public policies, regulations, financial mechanisms, and the relationship between the main stakeholders of the productive chain through arguments and evidence based on sciences that produce a positive impact on institutional dialogue in different spheres of federal public power, as well as in bilateral negotiations and dialogues between civil society.


Leveraging Conservation Initiatives

In coordination with our subnational peers, we will influence state and municipal policies as well as collaborate in building alliances between regional actors that support TNC conservation objectives in our Iconic Places.


Innovative Culture

The new position of
Agriculture Policy Specialist is a strategically important and cross-sector role that will take responsibility for developing and delivering impactful policy to create the best possible regulatory, trade and policy environment for sustainable farm business to succeed.

This senior role will require you to work cross - functionally with sector boards and chief advisers, industry supply chains and external organizations with a farming and food interest.

The
Agriculture Policy Specialist will be expected to influence the federal government to implement transformational legislation, regulation, and initiatives to foster zero deforestation-and-conversion agricultural supply chains and regenerative agriculture practices in Brazil.


Location:
Remote, preferably in Brasilia


Responsibilities & Scope:


  • Proactively follow and promote our Code of Conduct both internally and externally, continuously, and consistently demonstrating alignment with our values.
  • Develop and advocate for public polices aiming for a DeforestationandConversion free commodity supply chain, regenerative agriculture, low carbon agriculture, ILPF (forest, agriculture, and ranching integration), and other conservation strategies in the agriculture sector.
  • Constantly interact with public agents exchanging information and supporting decision making with scientificbased and accurate data.
  • Monitor government initiatives, public policy's, public financing mechanism for agriculture and climate mitigation, as well as law propositions in the national congress and in the Federal Executive, including but not limited to the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment and Ministry of External Relations, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of the Economy and Central Bank including, trade and investment facilitation agreements, new international regulations, especially but not limited to the European Union, China, the United States and the United Kingdom as well as public agencies.
  • Foster, build relationships and interact with international organizations and the foreign diplomatic delegations o issues and opportunities around the climate and conservation agenda.
  • Understand and translate through the organization new laws and normative acts related to conservation agenda supporting technical team and project leaders.
  • Map, influence, and aggregate stakeholders for a positive agenda related to objectives of TNC in the national level.
  • Work in close alignment with the policy specialists of state level in the Brazilian Iconic Places, with Global Teams, Private Sector relation teams as well as Conservation and Science staff in TNC.
