Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)Main purpose of job:
To provide administrative and research support to the Political Team in the British Embassy in Brasilia, with a particular focus on Brazilian external politics and visits.
Roles and Responsibilities:
To provide administrative support to the Foreign Policy team at the British Embassy Brasilia by providing support on:
- Research and administrative tasks to the Political team in the British Embassy, and more broadly to the Brazil Network, focused on Brazilian foreign politics. Occasionally attend events or conferences (within working hours) and write reports on them for colleagues.
- Meetings, projects and events. Responsibilities include liaison with internal and external stakeholders, arranging meetings, booking venues, setting up events (branding, catering, etc.), coordinating mailing lists, sending and following up on invitations, etc.
- Policy monitoring and reporting. Responsibilities include writing briefs on local government/stakeholders, monitoring local political news and Brazil's positions in multilateral organisations.
- Ad hoc organisation of visits to and from the UK and Brazil, including arranging logistics around accommodation, transport, and support on briefing packs and meetings.
- Current undergraduate student enrolled in a Political Science, International Relations, Communications, Management, Law or other related disciplines.
- Have good IT skills including Excel, PowerPoint and visual analysis products.
- Be a selfstarter who is proactive, with strong organisational, communication, and teamworking skills. Ability to work to tight deadlines at short notice under their own direction.
- Have very strong command of written and spoken English and Portuguese.
- An interest in Multilateral organisations and the bilateral relations between Brazil and the United Kingdom.
- Previous experience with research and written reports
- A good understanding of Brazilian politics, multilateral organisations and the Brazilian system

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g.
some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
Additional informationWorking Patterns:
The British Embassy Brasilia is currently operating on a hybrid working schedule.
You will be expected to spend three days in the office and will be able to have the flexibility to work from home, up to two days per week.
