TFA is composed of a global secretariat hosted by the World Economic Forum (WEF), and three regional coordination hubs, one of which is TFA Latin America, hosted by The Nature Conservancy in Brazil.

The private soft commodity sector is critical to eliminate tropical deforestation and natural ecosystem conversion, therefore TFA aims for responsible and transparent actions from farm to market (global and domestic) actors in addressing enabling conditions and systemic causes to eliminate deforestation and conversion from supply chains, through collaborative actions and increased partnerships that ensure just transition to sustainable supply where costs are shared across actors.


WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER:


Hosted by TNC, the TFA Private Sector Engagement Lead, will lead the engagement of key private soy and cattle sector stakeholders in Brazil and support interaction among private sector initiatives and roadmaps, as a core element of the TFA global strategy of supporting private sector actors to remove deforestation from commodity supply chains through collective action with emphasis on beef and soy sectors and with the financial sector.

S/he will work with TFA LATAM Regional Director, in alignment with the Private Sector and Financial Sector global Leads in engaging key supply chain actors and financial institutions in establishing transparent commitments, policies and corporate actions/agreements to reduce deforestation and conversion of natural ecosystems in their supply chains, related to TFA's mission, and represent TFA before special interest groups.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING:


  • The expected activities involve the following essential functions, responsibilities, and scope of work:
  • Leading the TFA private sector engagement strategy in Brazil and promoting national and regional dialogues and exchanges around private sector (including financial sector) initiatives supported by TFA in Latin America and globally.
  • Engagement, planning and convening of meetings, coordinating strategic studies and communication workflows as representative for TFA around private sector engagement.
  • Promote private sector alignment with collective action agendas to make sure there is strong alignment among global supply chain commitments such as CGF and private sector roadmaps and ontheground implementation (e.g. CGF Beef Roadmap, EU Due Diligence, Cerrado protocol, IFACC, Traders Roadmaps, Selo Verde, Producer Partnerships).
  • Unlocking investment in landscapescale efforts and incentives to producers including but not limited to payments for ecosystems services.
  • Work with various actors to advance increased collective action as well as specific company steps and industry associations (ABIOVE, ABIEC) to address deforestation associated mainly with the beef/cattle and soy supply chains.
  • Facilitate interactions with key country actors, TFA LatAm and Global teams, WEF-Center for Nature and Climate programs and strategies related to the Private Sector engagement in key biomes such as Amazon and Cerrado.
  • Structuring and/or supporting existing institutional arrangements that promote the alignment and channeling of global and local private actions that are strategic for the acceleration of impact investments and solutions, including the development of new business models or methodologies capable of leveraging investments and socioeconomic development.
  • Leading the systemic approach and strategic view that collaborates to map and propose North-South connections (such as CGF, IPDD, IFACC, Leaf, among others) fostering a hub of projects or methodologies that have the same goals to the sustainable development.
  • Support the development and implementation of transparent, timely, costeffective tools and methodologies for reporting on progress at an individual company and sector level to attend monitoring/traceability requirements.
