About the Role:


Principal Research Analyst, Dry Bulk Commodities will be a key role within the FCRS (Fuels, Chemical, and Resource Solutions) Shipping Analytics and Research business line responsible for developing and maintaining market intelligence and research flow for S&P Global Commodity Insight Commodities at Sea product.

In this role, she/he will be partnering closely with Director, Head of Dry Bulk Commodities & Freight Research in Singapore, plus other analysts around the world, Data Analytics team and Product Management teams.

The key focus will be providing insights, analysis, analytical commentary and interpretation of current and future trends in dry bulk commodities markets based on data-driven analytics and comprehensive demand and supply models.


The Team:


We are a multicultural, globe-spanning freight and commodity flow team creating the near-real time commodity flow tracker CAS (Commodities At Sea), located within the FCRS (Fuels, Chemicals, and Resources Solutions) Shipping Analytics and Research business line.

We are looking for a team member that would complement our collaborative process and help us build the world's premier commodity analytics solution.


Responsibilities and Impact:


Play a key role in developing and maintaining market intelligence and research flow for S&P Global Commodity Insights' Commodities at Sea product.

Create market scenarios and actionable insights for global trade flow.


Provide analysis, analytical commentary, and interpretation of current and future trends in dry bulk commodities including supply and demand analysis.


Partnering closely with Director, Head of Dry Bulk Commodities & Freight Research, plus other analysts around the world, Data Analytics team and Product Management teams.

Perform tasks and responsibilities as assigned based on priorities for team in order to meet/exceed requirements. Meet completion dates and provide input to manager regarding progress.


What We're Looking For:


Basic Required Qualifications:

5-7 years total commodity market experience with 3+years experiences in dry bulk market analytics experience. The role will require good level understanding of market structure and trade dynamics.

Excellent numeracy/written skills and comfortable working with large data sets from unstructured sources.

Expert knowledge of dry bulk commodities market analysis and demand and supply drivers based on strong understanding of macroeconomics.

Excellent communication skills and ability to establish and maintain strong professional relationships.

Professional communication and presentation skills.


Able to work independently and collaboratively with global S&P Global teams across different time zones whilst simultaneously carrying out independent tasks and activities.


Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in physical and paper trading will be beneficial.

Experience in Tableau and Power BI will be beneficial.

Knowledge of SQL and/or Python preferred.
