    Reliability Engineer SME

    BG Director of Operational Excellence and Engineering


    • Job OverviewThe BG Reliability Engineer SME (RE) will lead AFLA's efforts to ensure assets reliability and maintenance capacity across the region. The RE will also lead the data analysis of maintenance key performance indicators (KPIs) on a BG level, major breakdown and failure analysis, and will propose strategies/techniques that allow maintenance teams to anticipate issues and standardize practices.

    The RE professional needs analytical, logical and creative thinking to drive maintenance topics and find solutions to all sorts of asset management matters.

    The BG Reliability Engineer SME will have all AFLA's BUs under their responsibility:
    México, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Brazil.

    Building credibility with local, regional, internal and external stakeholders (plant managers, regional leaders, suppliers etc) is a key success factor to this position.

    This professional will help BU maintenance leaders to establish proactive activities (cleaning, inspection and lubrication routines, preventive plans, predictive plans etc.) and prepare their asset management local strategy.

    The Reliability Engineer SME must interact with various suppliers and equipment manufacturers so he can always propose forefront solutions, without losing cost sight.

    Supporting projects related to equipment and installations, from their conception to commissioning, is another activity of the RE.As one of the equipment and installations specialist, the Reliability Engineer SME is expected to participate very actively on different Safety groups and activities.

    Finally, as a direct reporting to the Director of Operational Excellence and Engineering (LATAM), the Reliability Engineer SME must join Regional Continuous Improvement Projects (CI) and Technical Networks to propose solutions for the most critical Safety, Quality, Deliver and Cost (SQDC) issues related to asset management.


    • Principal AccountabilitiesResponsible to support BGs' maintenance areas by (but, not limited to):Keeping AFLA's master equipment list (MEL) and equipment criticality ranking (ECR) updated.
    Developing and implementing the asset management strategy for AFLA.Identifying opportunities, anticipating problems, and standardizing maintenance practices.
    Ensuring highly qualified and competent personnel in the organization.
    Participating and intervening in the management of all BG's assets throughout their lifecycle.
    Categorizing, analyzing and ranking failures based on their risks.
    Implementing predictive routines and other non-destructive tests to identify reliability issues.
    Systematically defining, developing, monitoring, and refining AFLA's maintenance plans.
    Monitoring and ensuring reliability and maintainability of new and modified machines/facilities.
    Predicting equipment performance and lifecycle.
    Recommending equipment design improvements.
    Participating in the development of parts suppliers and technical maintenance service providers.
    Proposing forefront, cost-effective MRO management techniques.
    Promoting benchmarking and best practices sharing among BUs.
    Participating actively and/or leading Technical Networks, Safety initiatives, and CI projects.
    Joining Energy Reduction groups across the region.
    Creating and providing executive reports on the status of maintenance KPIs, including costs.

    • Qualifications/RequirementsKnowledge and Experience10 years of maintenance experience in multinational industries.5 years of experience in regional (multisite) roles.
    Strong knowledge in machines systems and components.
    Advanced knowledge in Maintenance Management Systems.
    Expert in maintenance methodologies and management techniques.
    Experience in working with Latin America countries.
    Self-managed and motivated with a strong desire to succeed and achieve goals.
    Fluency in both written and spoken English, Spanish and Portuguese is highly desirable.

    Education, Certifications & otherBS in Engineering.
    MBA or similar in Maintenance (Reliability, Asset Management, PAS55).

    Job Specific skills and abilitiesIndependent contributor that can lead tasks with minimal supervision.
    Ability to balance and influence diverse functions within the business, outside customers, suppliers, and external (e.g. government organizations) authorities.
    A significant amount of project work demanding excellent planning and time management skills over extended periods of time.
